Asia-Plus

DUSHANBE, April 13, 2016, Asia-Plus – Speaker of Tajikistan upper house (Majlisi Milli) of parliament, Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, today signed a decision on holding the sixth session of the Majlisi Milli of the fifth convocation in Dushanbe on May 5.

The Majlisi Milli members are expected to discuss amendments made to the country’s criminal and criminal procedure codes as well as laws on media, advocacy, etc.

The Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) adopts laws and the laws adopted by the Majlisi Namoyandagon are submitted to the Majlisi Milli, with the exception of the Law on the state budget.

Majlisi Milli seconds the law by a majority of votes of the total number of its members.  In the event the Majlisi Milli doesn’t second the law, it will be considered at the Majlisi Namoyandagon repeatedly.
