DUSHANBE, April 25, 2016, Asia-Plus – Amirsho Miraliyev, formerly head of the Supervisory Board of Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSK) Sohibkorbonk, has been elected to head the Association of Banks of Tajikistan (ABT), replacing Izatullo Lalbekov.

ABT deputy head Rahmatsho Sayismonov says Izatullo Lalbekov has left the position of the head of the ABT on his own initiative.

Amirsho Miraliyev, who is from President Rahmon”s native Danghara district in the southern province of Khatlon, was born on December 20, 1946.

In 1970, Miraliyev graduated from the Tajik Agricultural Institute, and in 1998, he graduated from the Leningrad Higher Party School.

In 1994-2000, Miraliyev served as State Adviser to the President for Personnel issues.

From February 2000 to February 2001, he was deputy of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament.

From February 2001 to November 4, 2006, Miraliyev served as governor of Khatlon province.

From December 2006 to February 2010, Miraliyev served as head of President’s Executive Office.

From February 2010 to February 2015, he was member of the Majlisi Namoyandagon.  He was First Deputy Speaker of the Majlisi Namoyandagon.

The Association of Banks of Tajikistan is a non-profit organization that unites banks and other organizations whose activities are related to the functioning of Tajikistan’s credit – monetary system.  The Association aims to promote and improve the efficiency of the banking system of Tajikistan, as well as to protect the interests of lending agencies.  The ABT participates in the development of banking regulations and other acts, together with the legislative and executive bodies.

The ABT members include 13 lending agencies, namely Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank), OJSC Orienbonk, OJSC Agroinvestbonk, OJSC Tojik Sodirot Bonk, Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) Tajprombank, OJSC Bank Eskhata, CJSC Fononbonk, OJSC Sohibkorbonk, CJSC Access Bank Tajikistan, CJSC FINCA Microcredit Company, The First MicroFinanceBank of Tajikistan, IMON International Microfinance Organization, and CJSC Bovari va Hamkori.
