DUSHANBE, May 17, 2016, Asia-Plus – Over the first four months of this year, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electrical power and natural gas, has amounted to more than 1.185 billion U.S. dollars, which was 89.8 percent of the January-April 2015 level or 135 million U.S. dollars fewer, according the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

The trade balance over the report period was negative and amounted to 656 million U.S. dollars.

Exports of goods in January-April have amounted to 265 million U.S. dollars, which was 8.4 percent or 24.4 million USD fewer than in the same period last year.

Over the report period, imports of goods into the country have amounted to 920 million U.S. dollars, which was 10.7 percent or 110 million USD fewer than in January-April 2015.

In January-April this year, Tajikistan has decreased fuel imports by 35 percent, flour imports by almost 32 percent.

At the same time, Tajikistan’s wheat imports have increased over the same four-month period by 26 percent.

In January-April this year, Tajikistan has had trade relations with 97 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.

Over the same four-month period, major trading partners of Tajikistan were: China – 298 million USD; Russia – about 287 million U.S. dollars; Kazakhstan – 192 million U.S. dollars; and Turkey – 105 million U.S. dollars.
