reported on May 27 that Iran has launched a new round of talks with Tajikistan and Armenia for signing of short-term agreements on the export of aviation gasoline to these countries.

Last year, the volume of Iranian exports of gasoline and aviation fuels reportedly met with a five-fold increase from 3,000 tons to 15,000 tons.

Given the boost in production and exports, Iran has launched a fresh round of talks with neighboring countries with an aim to seal short and long-term agreements on exporting various types of aviation gasoline especially to countries in Central Asia and the Caucasus, according to the

reports that Iran has also initiated negotiations with Tajikistan that in case of reaching an agreement, Tehran will be able to export various types of aviation fuels to Dushanbe by late August.

Iran began exporting its first aviation fuel shipment to international markets when a 12.5-kilometer-long pipeline, aimed at increasing the exports of jet fuel, came on stream in Bandar Abbas, the center of the Hormuzgan province, in 2012.

Currently, there is a capacity of 7 million liters daily export of Iranian aviation fuels, and the country is exporting the jet fuel to global markets under IATA standards,

Meanwhile, official sources at the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan say they do not know anything about negotiations on Iranian avgas deliveries to Tajikistan.

“We do not anything about such negotiations,” Yormahmad Begmahmadov, an official with the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Avgas (aviation gasoline) is an aviation fuel used in spark-ignited internal-combustion engines to propel aircraft.  Avgas is distinguished from motor gasoline, which is the everyday gasoline used in motor vehicles and some light aircraft.
