DUSHANBE, May 30, 2016, Asia-Plus – The Government of Tajikistan has proposed amendments to the country’s law on the national budget for 2016.

The amendments are aimed at supporting domestic producers, and individual enterprises and companies will be granted tax benefits for this year, an official source at Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament told Asia-Plus in an interview.

“The amendments, in particular, propose to abolish the tax on cotton fiber sales.  At the same time, a 10-percent export duty on cotton fiber will be introduced,” the source said.

Besides, the value added tax (VAT) for construction companies, educational facilities and public catering enterprises will be reduced to 5.0 percent, the source added.

We will recall that the current rate of the value added tax for all taxpayers in Tajikistan is 18 percent.
