DUSHANBE, July 7, 2016, Asia-Plus — Inter-parliamentary relations between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation were discussed in Moscow at the end of last week.

Co-chaired by Abdurahmon Qodiri, Frist Deputy Chairman of Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper house of parliament), and Yevgeniy Bushmin, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council (Russia’s upper chamber of parliament), the sixth session of the Commission for Cooperation between Majlisi Milli of Majlisi Oli (Tajikistan’s parliament) and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly (Russia’s national legislature) took place in Moscow on July 5.

According to the Tajik Embassy in Dushanbe, the meeting discussed the plan of work of the Commission for the second half of 2016 and approved compositions of the Tajik and Russian delegations of the Commission.

The meeting participants also exchanged views on the process of implementation of the plan of work of the Commission after the fifth session that took place on November 12, 2015. 

The meeting decided to hold the fifth international forum “Russia-Tajikistan: Potential of Cooperation between the Regions” in Dushanbe in October this year, the source said.
