DUSHANBE, July 12, 2016, Asia-Plus – This year, an exhibition of export goods from China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) is expected to take place in Dushanbe in October.

An agreement on this subject was reportedly reached during a working visit of Sharif Said, the head of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), to Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

On July 10, Said met there with Xie Yiming (phonetically spelled), the head of the XUAR Commerce Department, according to the CCI press service.

The two reportedly discussed issues related to bilateral mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

Sharif Said invited representatives of the XUAR business community to participate in a universal internal exhibition, dubbed Tajikistn-2016, and in a business forum that will take place in Dushanbe from July 22-24.

We will recall that the previous exhibition of the XUAR export goods took place at the Kokhi Borbad State Complex in Dushanbe in September last year.

Since 2004, similar exhibitions have taken place in Dushanbe, Kulob, Danghara, the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) and other regions of Tajikistan.

Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region is the largest Chinese administrative division.  Xinjiang borders Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. It has abundant oil reserves and is China”s largest natural gas-producing region.  Traditionally an agricultural region, Xinjiang also has large deposits of minerals and oil.  Xinjiang is known for its fruits and produce, including grapes, melons, pears, cotton, wheat, silk, walnuts and sheep.
