DUSHANBE, July 29, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan and Iran are considering the possibility of increasing the number of flights on the Dushanbe-Tehran air route.

Iran’s

news agency (MNA) reports head of Iran”s Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) has agreed Iranian airlines increase their flights to destination of Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

Ali Abedzadeh and Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Iran Nematullo Emomzoda reportedly discussed this issue on July 28.  They, in particular, discussed the possibilities of any improvement to Tehran-Dushanbe air route through a MoU by which airlines will raise their number of flights to Tajikistan.

According to

Mehr

, Ambassador Emomzoda emphasized on extension of transportation between the two capitals. “Common language and a general welcome lavished by Iranian tourists to Tajikistan entail improved flight services,” he told the meeting.

Meanwhile, Tajik Embassy in Tehran  notes that new representative of Tajik national air carrier, Tajik Air, to Iran, Farrukh Akobirov, was introduced to head of Iran’s CAO during the meeting.

We will recall that Tajikistan’s Civil Aviation Administration and Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization signed a memorandum of understanding on civil aviation cooperation last year.

The document provides for operating ten flights between the cities of Tajikistan and Iran per week.  The regular flights will be operated by Tajikistan’s Tajik Air and Somon Air and Iran’s Asman Air and Mihan Air.

Currently, only two flights are operated between Tajikistan and Iran per week – Dushanbe-Tehran and Dushanbe-Mashhad.  Tajik national air carrier, Tajik Air, operates the Dushanbe-Tehran flight on Sundays and Iran’s Asman Air operates the Mashhad-Dushanbe flight on Thursdays.
