DUSHANBE, August 2, 2016, Asia-Plus – On Tuesday August 2, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon held talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak and Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in Jakarta on the sidelines of the 12th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF).

According to the Tajik president’s official website, Rahmon and Najib Razak discussed a broad range of issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Malaysia.

A special attention was paid to the construction of the combined heat and power (CHP) plant in the Tajik northern city of Isfara.  This project is expected to be implemented by one of Malaysian companies.

The meeting of Rahmon with Ranil Wickremesinghe reportedly focused on the issues of establishing bilateral cooperation between their countries in constructing small and medium-sized hydropower plants, launching joint minerals processing ventures in Tajikistan as well as establishing cultural and scientific cooperation.      

Both sides stated intention to establish cooperation in combating international extremism and terrorism, the website said.
