The defense Ministry of Tajikistan today honored the winner of the gold medal of the Olympics in Rio Dilshod Nazarov.

As it was reported in the press center of the defense Ministry, D. Nazarov is the son of an officer of the Armed forces of Tajikistan, who died in May 1996 in the performance of duty to the Motherland and the people.

Colleagues of the father of the famous Tajik athlete shared with him memories of their comrade, told Dilshod about his courage and steadfastness.

Following the meeting, Dilshod Nazarov was awarded the medal "For strengthening of military Commonwealth", he was also awarded memorable gifts, reports the press center of the Ministry of defense.

Earlier it was reported that Dilshod Nazarov came out to meet with his fans after winning at the Olympics in the t-shirt with the image of his father Jamoliddin Nazarov and the inscription "Today throw for you, Dima" ("Today I throw hammer for you, Dima").

Jamoliddin Nazarov was killed in Tavildara in 1996 during the civil war at the age of 41, when Dilshod was 15 years old.

The mother of Dilshod – Zaituna Nazarov, told that her son had gone to Rio with the certainty that he win, and said that when he would get gold, he put a shirt with a picture of his father.

"Jamoliddin was also an athlete, but then he moved on to work in the power block of the country, became a soldier, and was killed in Tavildara in 1996. He always worked with Russian and his short name was Dima," – said the mother of the Olympic champion.
