Radio Liberty’s Kyrgyz Service, known locally as Radio Azzatyk, reports the length of stay of Kyrgyz nationals in the Russia Federation without registration can be extended from seven to 30 days.

The Zhokoru Kenesh (Kyrgyzstan’s Parliament) Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security has reportedly endorsed an appropriate draft law.

An agreement on the rules of stay of Kyrgyz nationals in Russia and Russian nationals in Kyrgyzstan was signed in St. Petersburg, Russia on June 19, 2015.

Currently Kyrgyz nationals can stay in Russia without registration for seven days.  If the two sides ratify the document, the length of stay of Kyrgyz nationals in the Russia Federation without registration will be extended to 30 days.

As far as Russian nationals are concerned, they now can stay in Kyrgyz without registration for 90 days but this length will be decreased to 30 days.

Signed on December 23, 2014, the treaty aiming for Kyrgyzstan’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) came into force on August 6, 2015.   Membership of the EEU means that Kyrgyz nationals can now work in Russia, Armenia, Belarus and Kazakhstan without the need for a work permit or patent.

Kyrgyz nationals entering Russia for work are now exempt from requiring a work patent (an employment authorization process introduced in January 2015 for nationals of member nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Along with Armenians, Belarusians and Kazakhs, Kyrgyz nationals no longer need to undergo the immigration medical check, the Russian language and knowledge examination and the fingerprinting appointment, which are required for the work patent application process.

Meanwhile, Tajik nationals now can stay in Russia without registration for 15 days while Russian national can stay in Tajikistan without registration only for three days.
