Dushanbe has hosted the first political consultations between the foreign ministries of Tajikistan and Palestine.

The first political consultations between the foreign ministries of the Republic of Tajikistan and the State of Palestine took place in the Tajik capital on March 29. 

Co-chaired by Tajik Deputy Foreign Minister, Nizomiddin Zohidi, and Palestinian Assistant Foreign Minister (Asia, Australia and Africa), Dr. Mazen Shamiyah, the consultations focused on issues related to expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Palestine in the fields of economics, culture.

The meeting participants reportedly also exchanged views on inter-parliamentary cooperation and preparation of documents to extend legal foundation of the Tajik-Palestinian cooperation.

They also discussed a number of regional and international issues being of mutual interest, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

While in Dushanbe, Dr. Mazen Shamiyah also held talks with Tajik Deputy Prime Minister, Azim Ibrohim.

A source in the Tajik government says the two sides discussed issues of expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of agriculture and tourism.
