On Friday April 7, Tajik President Emoali Rahmon and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Russia, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

Both sides reportedly vowed to boost mutually beneficial cooperation between their countries.

President Putin, in particular, noted in his message that bilateral cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan has been fruitfully expanding in recent years on the basis of good traditions of friendship between the two peoples.

Russian leader said more than 150 bilateral cooperation documents have been signed between Tajikistan and Russia over the past twenty-five year.

Putin expressed confidence that the Russian Federation and Tajikistan would expand their strategic partnership and continue coordinating efforts to address international terrorism, extremism, transnational crime and other challenges and threats in the future as well.   

Emomali Rahmon, for his part, noted that Tajikistan highly appraises historical role of Russia in the process of reestablishment of peace and national accord in Tajikistan and its significant contribution to the socioeconomic development of Tajikistan.  

Tajik leader reportedly underlined significance of further joint actions to realize agreements reached during Russian president’s recent visit to Tajikistan.
