Deputy Prime Minister, Azim Ibrohim, has harshly criticized the poor state of the country’s pharmaceutical industry.
His criticism, directed at senior representatives of the pharmaceutical industry, came during an address to a meeting of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection that took place yesterday.
The vice-premier ordered relevant ministries and researchers to work out the draft government resolution on exempting pharmaceutical output manufactured inside the country from the value added tax (VAT), a source in the Tajik government told Asia-Plus in an interview.
Speaking at the meeting, the vice-premier, in particular, noted that there were more than 1,000 species of medicinal plants in Tajikistan but they practically remained unclaimed.
Today, Tajikistan manufactures about 200 items of medicines, Ibrohim noted.
