Former head of a court in Roudaki district (districts subordinate to the center) has been arrested on suspicion of taking bribes, representatives of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption told reporters in Dushanbe on July 28.

According to them, Ismoil Mirmakhsumiyon was arrested by officers from the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) on suspicion of taking  bribe of 8,000 U.S. dollars according to Tajik law enforcement authorities.

By president’s decree Ismoil Mirmakhsumiyon was relieved of his post of head of the Roudaki district court on July 17 “for violation of the laws” and he has been arrested this week.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Mirmakhsumiyon under the provisions of Article 319 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – bribe taking; an investigation is under way.
