The Ulema Council of the Islamic Center of Tajikistan will announce this on August 2.

According to the head of the Council of Ulema Saidmukarram Abdukodirzoda, "we cannot now say when the feast of sacrifice will take place, according to Sharia, we must first determine the rising of the new moon, see it, then we will be determined".

He explained that other countries of the world, which have already decided on the date of the celebration of Qurbon, use a different method. They do not see this rising of the new moon personally, and astrophysicists tell them about it beforehand. Abdukodirzoda notes that this method is considered by sharia – "haram"

Idi Qurbon is one of the two major Muslim holidays that is celebrated on the 10th day of the month of Dzulhijjah, or 2 months and 10 days after Eid al-Fitr.

In Tajikistan, Idi Qurbon traditionally begins with a festive prayer, which takes place in all the mosques in Tajikistan. After that, Muslims visit the graves of their relatives, go on a visit to relatives and friends.

Idi Qurbon in Tajikistan has been officially celebrated since 1991, and this day is a day off in the country.

Meanwhile, this year the mayor of Dushanbe, Rustam Emomali, on the eve of Idi Qurbon, permitted the sale and slaughter of cattle on the territory of the city. Under the former mayor, Mahmadsaid Ubaydulloev, the sale of livestock in the city was strictly prohibited. He instructed the heads of the metropolitan areas, together with the sanitary services, to prepare temporary points for the slaughter of cattle in honor of the holiday Idi Qurbon.
