The lower house of the Tajik parliament ratified today the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation signed between the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China signed on May 1 of this year on the feasibility study of projects for the construction of new buildings of the Parliament and Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.

As noted at the meeting of the parliament, the ratification of the memorandum by the parliament, which is essentially only intent and not mandatory, was insisted by the Chinese side.

According to the speaker of the Tajik parliament Shukurjon Zuhurov, the final point in the allocation of funds for this grand construction in Dushanbe will be set in the near future during President Emomali Rahmon's visit to Beijing.

Zuhurov expressed confidence that during this visit, Tajikistan and China will be finally determined on the issue of the construction of these buildings.

According to the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Nematullo Hikmatullozoda, according to the memorandum, China intends to allocate about 1.5 billion yuan (about 230 million dollars) for the construction of these facilities.

The future building of the parliamentary complex of Tajikistan will be erected on the territory of more than 42 thousand square meters, the government building – on the territory of 44 thousand square meters.

According to the data voiced in the parliament, the Chinese side undertakes to send construction equipment, material, and specialists to Dushanbe, the Tajik side – to exempt from taxes and customs duties imported into the country materials and equipment, to prepare drafts of new buildings, taking into account the opinion of Chinese experts, to allocate land for construction. According to Zuhurov, the projects of the buildings have not yet been finally approved.
