Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Qatar Khisrav Sohibzoda presented his credentials to Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani on October 8, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
Tajik ambassador conveyed greetings of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
Qatar Emir reportedly expressed satisfaction with the high level of political contacts between the two countries and noted that Qatar is interested in further expansion of cooperation with Tajikistan.
In this context, Qatar Emir pointed to the necessity of promoting and successfully implementing joint projects, the Tajik president’s official website said.
The sides reportedly also pointed out the significance of opening of the direct air communication between Tajikistan and Qatar for further expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Qatari Gulf Times news agency reports that His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani Sunday morning received at the Emiri Diwan office the credentials of three new ambassadors to Qatar. He received the credentials of Tajikistan ambassador Khisrav Sohibzoda, Belgium ambassador Bart De Groof and Liberia ambassador John Ballout. The ambassadors conveyed the greetings of leaders of their countries to His Highness the Emir and their best wishes for the Qatari people of further progress and prosperity. His Highness the Emir welcomed the new ambassadors and wished them success in their missions and for the relations between Qatar and their respective countries further progress and prosperity. Earlier, the ambassadors were reportedly accorded official reception ceremonies at Emiri Diwan.
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the State of Qatar were established on December 13, 1994, and the Embassy of the State of Qatar started functioning in Tajikistan in November 2012. In July 2013, the State of Qatar appointed its Ambassador to the Republic of Tajikistan. Tajikistan opened its Embassy in the State of Qatar in December 2012. In May 2013, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the State of Qatar was appointed.
