The period of deflation is reportedly continuing in Tajikistan’s consumer sector.  According to the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT), prices last month fell 1.0 percent.

In March, prices for food products reportedly fell 2.0 percent.

The decrease in cost of products of the food industry was caused by cut in prices for wheat flour, eggs, sugar, cooking (cotton) oil, milk, potatoes, onions, cabbages, etc.

Meanwhile, prices and rates for services rendered to the population non-foods last month rose in cost by 0.4 percent and 0.1 percent respectively.

Inflation over the twelve-month period, from March 2017 to March 2018, reportedly stood at 2.5 percent

Recall, Tajikistan’s year-end inflation for 2017 has been estimated at 6.7 percent.

Tajik central bank had previously forecast that the year-end inflation for last year would to stand at 7.0 percent.
