On the eve of Youth Day, which is celebrated in Tajikistan on May 23, the mayor’s office of Khujand, the capital of Sughd province, yesterday honored 100 best athletes, school and university students of the city. 

All of them received 1000 somoni each, according to the Khujand mayor’s office.

In 2017-2018 academic year, school students of Khujand got 31 honorable places in republican Olympiads, 19 honorable places, and 69 honorable places in distance Olympiads.  

The Khujand mayor’s scholarship program was launched in 1997.  Until 2017, the mayoral scholarship was awarded annually to 60 best school and university students of the city.  Last year, the number of recipients was increased to100.
