The final sitting of the fourth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) of the fifth convocation took place today and then Majlisi Namoyandagon deputies will go on a summer recess.

A June 29 meeting reviewed the results of the past year’s work and considered a number of draft laws.

Speaking at the meeting, the Majlisi Namoyandagon head Shukurjon Zuhurov, in particular, noted that 42 sittings of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Council (Shouro) and 26 sittings of the Majlisi Namoyandagon had been held over the past nine months.

Over the report period, the Majlisi Namoyandagon has reportedly considered 162 laws and a large number of international agreements.     

The summer recess will last until August 15, and from August 16 to September 30, lawmakers will work in profile committees.  The fourth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fifth convocation will begin its work on October 1, 2017. 

In case of necessity, the President of Tajikistan has the right to convoke an extraordinary session of the parliament during the summer recess.
