Over 1,100 tons of faulty foods products withdrawn reportedly from shelves in H1 2018

As a result of inspections carried out by employees of Tojikstandart (Agency for Standardization, Metrology, Certification and Trade Inspection) over the first six months of this year, more than 1,000 tons of faulty food products have been pulled from shelves, Tojikstandart director Qudrat Davlatzoda told reporters in Dushanbe on July 23.  

“One part of these products has been recognized as being of poor quality and another one has been recognized as not meeting norms of food security,” Davlatzoda said.

“Some 2,350 cases of delivery of poor quality food products to the domestic market have been registered in January-June this year and more than 1,100 tons of faulty food products have been withdrawn from sale,” Tajik official noted.  

According to him, a totaled included more than 300 kilograms of meat products, 153 kilograms of wheat flour, 136 tons of confectioneries, more than 105 tons of food additives, some 68 tons of alcohol drinks, 58 tons of teas and so forth.  

The majority of these food products have been delivered to the country by private entrepreneurs, Davlatzoda added.
