Despite his professional background as the interior minister,  Ramazon Rahimzoda, is apparently no stranger to writing.

He has written numerous poems in recent years using the pen name Nihoni, Tajik for “hidden.”  They were published in Tajik media.

Now Ramazon Rahimzoda has turned to the stage.  The Abulqosim Lohuti Theater in Dushanbe will see the staging of Dili Modar (The Heart of a Mother) — a work penned by Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda, in the second half of this month, a source at the Ministry of Culture (MoC) told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service, the play was screened on August 5 by an elite audience that included Tajikistan's state committee for national security chief and culture minister.

The play tells the story of a student, Khurshed, who joins the ranks of the Islamic State terror group in Syria.  But the main hero of the piece, as suggested by the title, is Khurshed’s mother.  The play ends with her being shot dead by her son.  Tajik known actress Maryam Isoyeva will play the main character.

EurasiaNet.org says the cost of providing costumes and scenery is reportedly being underwritten by the Interior Ministry.

According to the Interior Ministry press office, Ramazon Rahimzoda has written no less than 120 books and monographs.

In 2016, Rahimzoda wrote a poem of 55 couplets called “In the Praise of the Leader of the Nation” dedicated to President Emomali Rahmon.

Another Rahimzoda poem devoted to Emomali Rahmon titled “Tu Mearzi” (You are Worthy) was performed to music by Tajik known singer Surayo Qosimova and her daughter Shabnami Surayo.
