They hope that order will be established in Khorog without any special operations and incidents.

Residents of Khorog, with whom representatives of Asia Plus contacted by telephone, said they believed in the honesty and potential of the new head of GBAO, Yodgor Fayzov. However, they say that there is some government pressure on local residents.

Residents of the city, with whom we spoke, did not want to give their names. According to them, Yodgor Fayzov began to fulfill his duties as head of GBAO on October 1, when, by decree of the President of Tajikistan, he still meets daily with the population of Khorog.

He held meetings with representatives of the youth of the city, with deputies of the city majlis, with the active members of the region, with women, with the elders. During meetings, issues of ensuring the rule of law in Khorog are discussed and, in general, restoring order in the administrative center of the region.

According to one resident of Khorog, familiar with the situation in the region, for example, during a meeting with former field commanders, the head of GBAO spoke about the voluntary surrender of their weapons and ammunition.

«Former field commanders replied that they had no weapons left. The head of the region said that according to the available information, a certain amount of weapons and ammunition still remains in the hands of the population and every effort must be made to hand it over, otherwise a special operation on their seizure will become inevitable».

All the interlocutors of “AP” unanimously declared that the absolute majority of the population of Khorog supported the efforts of the new head of GBAO. However, they are unhappy that the atmosphere is again becoming tense. " This is due to the end of the period that the head of state gave to the security forces and local authorities to rectify the situation in the region, said a local resident.. – Regional leadership requires the population to hand over weapons. Otherwise, they talk about a special operation. The other day, Fayzov said this ".

" Now they have given the time until October 16th, if they do not hand over all the remaining weapons, they will search all houses " – residents says.

According to local residents, night duty is ongoing at Khorog, " they were not canceled, they decided to wait until October 15, when the military, who remain in Khorog for a month, will be taken out of the city " – They say.

Residents believe that order will be established in Khorog without any special operations and incidents.
