Deputy Prime Minister, Azim Ibrohim, has sharply criticized the poor preparedness of the Khatlon province for winter season, a source in the Tajik government told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to the source, his criticism, directed at local officials in the province, came during an address to a meeting of the republican commission on preparation of the Khatlon province for winter, which took place in Bokhtar (formerly Qurghon Teppa) on October 24.

Ibrohim reportedly assessed regional administrators’ work on preparing the province for winter season as unsatisfactory.

To-date, the cities and districts of Khatlon are only 75 percent ready for the winter season.

The vice-premier reportedly demanded at the meeting that the situation should be put right in the shortest time and set precise tasks to remove existing shortcomings.

He sharply criticized regional administrators for failing to prepare enough fodder for cattle for autumn-winter season.

Azim Ibrohim pointed to the necessity of taking adequate measures to ensure the regular work of the province’s schools and hospitals during the winter season.
