Asia-Plus Media Group has launched a new project – Media Literacy School, which will not only teach users how to identify difference between true information and fake information but will also give them an opportunity to participate in contests and win valuable prizes.

Media Literacy School is a separate heading on the news.tj site and its main goal is to help users develop critical thinking skills that will allow them to treat cautiously information flow both in mass media and on social networking sites.

At the beginning of the project, we will teach the site users the basics of media literacy through just little tests.

In the second phase of the project, all visitors of the site will be proposed to turn the fact checking into exciting experience through participating in the “Fake Exposer” contest on spotting fake news published in any media resources of the country.

The three best fake exposers will be awarded valuable prizes (smartphones) and certificates.

The project is implemented in cooperation with Internews under financial support of the European Union in the framework of the project, Promoting Stability and Peace in Central Asia.

Media literacy encompasses the practices that allow people to access, critically evaluate, and create media.
