The body of drowned Colonel (Retd.) Saadi Kholmurodov, who was also known as Saadi-Komandir (Saadi Commander), was found in twenty-days, according to the Committee on Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CIS) under the Government of Tajikistan.

“The body of Saadi Kholmurodov, 56, who drowned in the Vakhsh River in the area of the reservoir powering the Sangtuda-1 hydroelectric power plant (HPP) on December 15, was found on January 6,” Ms. Umeda Yusufi, a spokeswoman for the CES, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Kholmurodov reportedly fell into the river by negligence and the Nurek prosecutor’s office is investigating the case.

Retired Colonel Saadi Kholmurodov had been deputy commander of the Interior Ministry’s Special Force Brigade, which had been headed by late Major-General Suhrob Qosimov.
