“Oshi Palav” (Pilaf) by Tajik known photographer Nozim Qalandarov is on the list of 100 best photographs of 2018, dubbed “The Main Shots of 2018,” which was compiled by Russian news agency TASS.  

The photo was taken at the pilaf festival that took place in Dushanbe on November 10, 2018. 

The photos inscribed on the list reflect the key moments of Russian Mundial and other important events of the last year as well as vivid scenes from everyday life.  

Recall, three works by Nozim Qalandarov were included into a new photo album entitled “The 21st Century Photos” that was published by Thomson Reuters in 2015.  

The album contains photos made in the former Soviet Union republics over the past fifteen years and three works by Nozim Qalandarov, namely “Zuhro, an employee of Dushanbe Zoo, takes Vadik, an 18-month-old male lion, for a walk” (January 2011), “Bzukashi” (goat grabbing) in Tajikistan (March 2011), and “Crowds of people near a currency exchange office in Dushanbe” (March 2015) were included into the album.

As far as the picture “Zuhro, an employee of Dushanbe Zoo, takes Vadik, an 18-month-old male lion, for a walk” is concerned, The Telegraph published it on January 20, 2011 in the heading “Pictures of the Day.”
