Teen knife crime has been reported in the Tajik capital again.  A 15-year-old resident of Dushanbe has inflicted stab wound on a teen of the same age.  

According to the Interior Ministry’s website, the 15-year-old resident of Dushanbe’s Qazaqon mahalla beat the teenager of the same age and stabbed him in the back.  The wounded teenager was reportedly hospitalized.

The incident took place in the afternoon of January 22 and the assailant was arrested on the same day following application by the victim’s father, the website said.

Criminal proceedings have reportedly been instituted and an investigation is under way.  

According to the statistical data from the Dushanbe Police Directorate, 281 crimes were committed by minors last year, which is 165 cases more than in 2017 (96 crimes were reported committed by minors in 2017).  Of those 261 crimes, only 134 ones were committed by residents of Dushanbe.
