President Emomali Rahmon began a five-day working visit to the northern Sughd province on March 30.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, the main purpose of the visit is for the head of state to get acquainted with social and economic situation in the province and the process of preparations for the 30th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence that will be celebrated on September 9, 2021.

While in Sughd, Rahmon have also inaugurated a number of social and economic facilities in the region.

On March 30, Emomali Rahmon attended an official opening ceremony of Sughdpoliteks (PolyTex) LTD in Buston (formerly Chkalovsk).   

The enterprise will produce 207 types of polyethylene packages.   Sughdpoliteks will produce up to 3 million polyethylene packages per month.  

The head of state also inaugurated a private kindergarten Guli Navrouz in Buston.  The kindergarten will accommodate 240 children.  

During the visit, a special attention will be given to the issues related to the process of preparations for the 30th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence that will be celebrated on September 9, 2021. 

According to the Sughd regional administration, more than 6,500 new facilities, including 300 industrial enterprises, will be introduced into operation in the province by September 2021.
