The practice of cutting off electricity to some areas of Dushanbe is going on.  Today, four neighborhoods in the Tajik capital will be left without electricity for seven hours.

“Today, electricity supply will be cut off to Khujambiyoi Bolo, Khujambiyoi Poyon, Armughon and Chaghatai neighborhoods from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in connection with routine maintenance work,” said an official source at the Dushanbe electricity supply network.

It is to be noted that various streets and neighborhoods in the Tajik capital have been left without electricity practically every day since the beginning of the year.

Barqi Tojik (Tajikistan’s state-run power utility company) has explained these power outages by maintenance work on Dushanbe’s power substations.

Meanwhile, some representatives of Barqi Tojik have attributed the problem to low water levels at the reservoir powering the Nurek hydropower plan
