Members of AmCham Tajikistan have held a meeting with new director of Tajinvest, Khurshed Faizullozoda.

According to AmCham Tajikistan, a business breakfast with Mr. Faizullozoda took place at Dushanbe Serena Hotel on May 7.

More than twenty members of AmCham Tajikistan reportedly participated in the meeting that covered the following topic: "Innovative methods of improving the investment climate in Tajikistan."

Inaugurating the meeting, Chairman of the AmCham Tajikistan Board of Directors, Mr. Thomas Hallam, who is also CEO of Somon Air, briefed those present on priorities of AmCham Tajikistan and his meeting with senior representatives of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington.

Mr. Khurshed Faizullozoda, for his part, informed members of the AmCham Tajikistan of activities and objectives of Tajinvest, analysis of investment projects and business-plans, their work on attracting investments and assisting with seeking business projects and business partners, organizing visits of foreign delegations to Tajikistan and so forth, according to TajInvest.

According to Faizullozoda, Tajikistan’s gross domestic product (GDP) rose 7.3 percent last year and large infrastructure development projects were implemented in the country.  Population’s incomes rose 1.1 percent in 2018 and the poverty rate in the country reduced to 29.5 percent, Faizullozoda noted.

The meeting participants reportedly also discussed issues related to conversion of currencies and excises and preparation of investment projects and tenders.

At the end of the meeting, they noted intention of Tajinvest and AmCham Tajikistan to close collaborate in attracting foreign direct investment in Tajikistan.

AmCham is an independent, non-profit, and non-governmental Tajikistan business association, composed of companies united by a will to develop the Tajik business environment.

The organization’s mission is to promote the business interests of its members. AmCham facilitates connections, shapes public policy, and produces and delivers business information for members.

While AmCham is short for the American Chamber of Commerce, AmCham Tajikistan is more than a bilateral chamber of commerce between Tajikistan, United States and developed countries.  It is a community working to increase foreign direct investment from all interested partner countries, and to improve Tajikistan’s market visibility and help improve its external economic policies.

The main objective of The Business and Investment Development Agency “SUE Tajinvest”, is in advising and supporting foreign investors in Tajikistan and promoting Tajikistan abroad.

Tajinvest, is an agency of the State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management of  Tajikistan (GosKomInvest).  Established in 2010, the agency contributes to attracting foreign investment through its services and development programs.
