On Thursday May 30, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Tajik First Deputy Prime Minister, Davlatali Said, who arrived in Ashgabat for participation in a session of the CIS Council of Heads of Government.

Turkmen media reports say the two sides expressed interest in expansion of transportation cooperation between the two countries, noting that successful implementation of the regional project on construction of a rail link connecting Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan will give a powerful impulse to expansion of the transportation collaboration between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.

They underlined the efficiency of expansion of energy, commercial, agrarian and industrial cooperation between the two countries.

Humanitarian cooperation between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan reportedly became the subject to separate discussion.

At the end of the meeting, they confirmed adherence of both countries to traditional ties of friendship and good neighborliness and declared for further expansion of mutually beneficial collaboration between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.
