President visits Sangvor district in Rasht Valley

President Emomali Rahmon today morning began a working visit to the Rasht Valley (eastern Tajikistan).  The Sangvor (formerly Tavildara) district was the first leg of president’s tour of the region, according to the Tajik president’s official website.    

Rahmon reportedly attended a ceremony of opening of a sports ground at School No1 in the administrative center of the district. 

The head of state also attended groundbreaking ceremonies for construction of new buildings of the Executive Committee of the People Democratic Party (PDP)’s organization for Sangvor, local Education Department and the State Committee for National Security (SCNS)’s office in Sangvor. 

Rahmon also visited an exhibition of agricultural goods in the Sangvor administrative center and attended an official opening ceremony of a 50-meter flagpole in the district.

While in Sangvor, the president also inaugurated a number of economic and social facilities, including a teahouse, a trade workshop and a hotel. 

Rahmon also handed over gifts to more than 60 orphans and children from vulnerable families and held meeting with local residents, the president’s website said.
