Employees of the Government’s Office and Head of the Fund for State-owned Property Management of Kyrgyzstan Zhyldyzbek Isakulov have answered issues regarding the Tajik-Kyrgyz border, according to Kyrgyzstan’s online news agency 24.kg.

Isakulov, in particular, noted that ex-governor of Batken region Mamat Aibalayev can be appointed only as counselor or advisor to the commission on delimitation and demarcation of the border.  “Otherwise, the Tajik side will demand inclusion of their person in the commission,” Isakulov said.

He also promised to instruct the state-run TV channels to provide objective information on what is going on the border.

Isakulov also noted that the Economic Crime Control Service and the Customs Service are engaged in preventing smuggling.

He also said that it is impossible to solve the issue of relocation of the Kant air base to Batken region.  “This issue should be solved bilaterally with Russia,” said Isakulov.

The Kyrgyz official also noted that it is impossible to solve the issue of delimitation and demarcation of the border unilaterally.
