A separate government agency will be established in Tajikistan to maintain tunnels, lighting networks and traffic lights on highway of international and national significance.  

By government’s decree issued on October 4 relevant government bodies are ordered to establish such an agency.  

The document in particular, says that “the new agency is established for the purpose of promoting development of the road maintenance system and improvement of the use of newly created technological capacities in this system.” 

The Ministry of Transport and the State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management (GoKomInvest) are ordered to address the institutional and legal issues and the Ministry of Finance is ordered to address the issues of financing activities of the newly established agency. 

According to data from the Government, five tunnels with a total length of 18 kilometers have been built in the country due to foreign investment.  A total cost of these projects is more than 248 million U.S. dollars.
