More than 20 percent of electricity produced in Tajikistan in the past month was exported to neighboring countries, according to the Monitoring and Early Warning in Tajikistan monthly report for October.  .

“In September 2019, Tajikistan exported more than 307 million kWh of electricity to neighboring countries, which is 20.5 percent of the overall volume of electricity generated in Tajikistan last year,” says the report.

Of this amount, some 165 million kWh of electricity were supplied to Uzbekistan, nearly 130 million kWh of electricity were supplied to Afghanistan and more than 12 million kWh of electricity were supplied to Kyrgyzstan.   

Last month, Tajikistan reportedly produced more than 1.5 billion kWh of electricity.

The report says Tajikistan has exported more than 2.8 billion kWh of electricity to these countries over the first nine months of this year.

According to data from the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, the country has earned 85.4 million U.S. dollars from electricity supplies to the neighboring countries in January-September this year.  

In all, Tajikistan plans to export about 3.5 billion kWh of electricity this year.
