Russian media reports say two people were killed and seven others injured on January 6 in Russia’s Siberian region of Tyumen as a bus and truck crashed on a highway.

Russia’s RIA Novosti says the accident took place on the 266th kilometer of the Tyumen – Khanty-Mansiysk highway in the Tobol district of the Tyumen oblast.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, the bus made a turn on a highway, but the driver did not check [his blindspot].  There were 30 passengers on the bus that was en route from Tajikistan to Russia's Surgut.  Seven passengers have received injuries of varying degrees. The bus driver and a passenger from the Isuzu truck were killed; their identities are being established," representative of the regional emergency management agency was cited as saying by RIA Novosti.

Representative of the regional emergency management agency reportedly told RIA Novosti that all passengers from the bus are nationals of Tajikistan.

“According to updated data, there were 35 passengers, including five children on the bus.  All of them are nationals of Tajikistan,” the regional emergency management agency representative was quoted as saying.

REN TV reports seven dead.  The death toll in the bus accident in the Tyumen oblast rose to seven,” REN TV said.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Meanwhile, Sputnik Tajikistan, citing a source within Tajikistan’s General Consulate in Yekaterinburg, reports that only five of 35 passengers were nationals of Tajikistan, and only three of them were injured in that accident.
