Newly-appointed Afghan ambassador presents his credentials to Tajik foreign minister

On Thursday February 20, the newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Afghanistan to Tajikistan, Mohammad Zahir Aghbar, presented his credentials to Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin, according to the Tajik MFA information department. 

In the course of the talks that took place after the credentials presenting ceremony, the two discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.

They reportedly also exchanged views on a number regional issues being of mutual interest.

Mohammad Zahir Aghbar replaced Zalmai Younusi, who left his post of Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Tajikistan in May 2018.  

Prior to this, Mohammad Zahir Aghbar had served as Consul General of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Munich since August 2018.  From March 2015 to August 2018, Mohammad Zahir Aghbar reportedly served as Senior Security Advisor to Chief Executive Officer of Afghanistan.  Earlier, Aghbar had served as protection brigade commander at the National Directorate of Security (NDS), Kabul police chief, according to Pajhwok Afghan News.
