In Tajikistan, inflation in the consumer goods sector over the first two months of this year has stood at 1.0 percent, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan

Last month, inflation in the consumer sector reportedly at 0.4 percent. 

The cost of products of the food industry in January-February increased by 1.5 percent. 

The increase in cost of products of the food industry was reportedly caused by a 21.4 percent rise in prices for potatoes, apples – 20.1 percent, cabbages – 7.6 percent, onions – 3.7 percent, noodles – 2.5 percent, and meats (beef) – 1.2 percent.    

Non-foodstuffs have reportedly risen in cost 0.3 percent over the same two-month period with the prices increasing most significantly for the following goods: detergents – 0.6 percent; pharmaceutical products – 0.5 percent; building bricks – 0.4 percent; and shoes and fabrics – 0.3 percent.   

Prices and rates for services rendered to the population reportedly have increased by 0.7 percent over the first two months of this year.  Prices for air ticket have reportedly increased most significantly over the report period – 29.9 percent.  

It should be noted that during the last year, prices for air tickets rose 11.1 percent.  

This year, the government plans to curb inflation rate at 7.0 percent.  

Last year, the year-end inflation in the consumer goods sector reportedly stood at 8.0 percent.
