Dushanbe Administration has cancelled all sports and cultural activities on the occasion of City Day due to coronavirus concerns

The Dushanbe Administration press center says all cultural sports activities that ere support to take place in the Tajik capital on the occasion of City Day are cancelled for the purpose of preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and protecting public health.

Recall, a number of various cultural and sports activities, including open-air concerts, contests, mini soccer, race and festivities, were supposed to be held in Dushanbe on April 18.

Dushanbe celebrates City Day on the third Saturday of April and this year, Dushanbe will mark this event on April 18.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population insists that, as of April 13, there has not been one confirmed case of the coronavirus infection in Tajikistan.

However, the insistence of official that coronavirus has made no inroads into the country has prompted suspicions that the authorities are not accurately reporting information about the pandemic in the country.
