A Dushanbe-based large flour milling plant is expected to reopen after rehabilitation in the near future.    

The process of rehabilitation of the Limited Liability Company (LLC) Kombinati Ordi Dushanbe (Dushanbe Flour Milling Plant) is nearing completion, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (MoINT)

An official source at a  MoINT says rehabilitation of the plant has been carried out under support of China’s COFCO Engineering & Technologies Co., Ltd., one of leading companies of system solutions for grain and food processing sector.  

According to him, a new state-of-the-art equipment has already been installed and the enterprise will be ready for producing flour “after introducing the programming of the technological line.”

“100 people will work for the plant with capacity of processing 400 tons of wheat per day,” the source added.    

Currently, Kazakhstan provides the bulk of Tajikistan’s wheat and flour imports.

According to the official statistic data, the cost of wheat flour grade I has risen 4.1 percent over the first three months of this year and the current price for a 50-kilogram sack of wheat flour grade I at Dushanbe’s bazaars is 250.00 somoni.
