Major repairs will be conducted at the central regional hospital of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) in Khorog after reduction in the number of COVID-19 patients and when the last COVID-19 patient will be discharged from the hospital, Gholib Niyatbekov, a spokesman for the GBAO governor, told Asia-Plus Tuesday afternoon.

According to him, this issue was raised at a meeting of GBAO governor Yodgor Faizov with patients of that hospital.

“The patients have complained of poor conditions, lack of toilets, stale bedding and lack of lack of electric heaters,” Niyatbekov said.

According to him, the governor ordered the regional health and financial departments to eliminate all those shortcomings as soon as possible.

During the visit to the hospital, Yodgor Faizov also met with local blogger Komchek Mirzoyev, thanks to whom it became known about the deplorable state of the central regional hospital.

Several days ago, a patient and a volunteer made a video of poor state of the GBAO central regional hospital and posted it on social networks.

The video, in particular, says the hospital has only one fridge and one teapot for 29 patients.  Other equipment in the hospital just doesn't work, Komchek Mirzoyev said.

Later, the video was deleted.

A day after publication of the video, famous Tajik singer Nobovar Chanorov sent two fridges and two electric ovens to the regional hospital in Khorog.
