83 new cases of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) were officially reported in Tajikistan on Saturday, bringing a total number of the officially confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country to 4,453 as of June 6, 2020.

92 COVID-19 patients reportedly recovered on Saturday.  As of June 6, 2020, 2,583 COVID-19 patients have recovered in Tajikistan.  

No coronavirus-linked deaths were reported on June 6, according to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population (MoHSPP),

The number of COVID-19-related deaths reportedly remains the same in Tajikistan – 48.  

Tajikistan’s national news agency Khovar says the Republican Commission for Prevention of Further Spread of COVID-19 has made a decision to tighten preventive measures.  Changes and addenda proposed to the country’s Administrative Code reportedly provide for imposing fines for going out in public without a face mask and ignoring personal hygiene as well as safety and hygiene rules in public places.  

The Republican Commission urges heads of ministries and agencies to take specific and necessary measures to prevent risks of further spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.  

Although quarantine has not been officially declared in Tajikistan, the Republican Commission for Preventing Further Spread of COVID-19 in Tajikistan has decided that face masks are mandatory for people in Tajikistan who go out in public during the coronavirus pandemic.
