Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali yesterday held a meeting with heads of Dushanbe’s districts, senior representatives of law enforcement authorities and heads of local markets and bazaars to discuss the COVID-19 situation in the city and the implementation of the decision of the Republican Commission for Further Prevention of Spread of COVID-19 on tightening ant-epidemic measures in the city, according to the Dushanbe Administration press center.

In order to prevent the possibility of a second wave of the new coronavirus the mayor reportedly ordered heads of markets, bazaars, malls and service centers to organize disinfection work before the resumption of their activities.

Recall, bazaars, cafes, beauty salons, hairdressing saloons, barber's shops, hotels, trade centers, public caterings and resort centers are expected to resume operations in Tajikistan starting on June 15.

Merchants running shops at Dushanbe’s bazaars must wear masks and anyone entering the bazaars will have their temperature taken.

The meeting participants also discussed issues related to supporting local entrepreneurs and assisting in exemption of them from taxes during the period when they had not been engaged in commercial activities.

The Dushanbe Health Directorate and other relevant municipal agencies were ordered to take measures to prepare health care facilities for everyday work based on the results of epidemiological analysis on gradual discharge of COVID-19 patients from them.

The mayor also ordered these facilities to take adequate measures to prevent the threat of new outbreak of COVID-19 and ensure control over the observance of sanitary-hygienic and anti-epidemic requirements.

The mayor also ordered relevant persons to tighten preventing measures, including mandatory wearing of face masks in public and disinfection of streets, working and public places, passenger terminals, public transport, shops and health care facilities.
