A betting shop has been robbed in the Spitamen district of the northern province, according to the Interior Ministry’s website.

A 29-year-old resident of the city of Khujand has applied to the Interior Ministry’s office in the Spitamen district saying that an unidentified person robbed the betting shop “Rakhsh” located in the administrative center of the Spitamen district.

According to him, the unknown person penetrated into the betting shop on the night of June 17-18 and seized 10,500 somoni.  

As a result of the search operation, a 25-year-old local resident has been detained on suspicion of committing that crime. 

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against him under the provisions of Article 244 (2) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code and an investigation is under way.
