Four people killed and two others were injured on August 3 as a car fell into a 70-meter abyss in the Rasht Valley (eastern Tajikistan).

According to the Interior Ministry’s website, the accident took place in the morning, at around 6:30 am at the 78th kilometer of the Vahdat-Rasht-Lakhsh highway.

A 30-year-old Khoujavali Komilov apparently lost control of his Opel-Astra and the car got carried away and fell into the 70-meter abyss.

As a result of the accident, the driver, his 65-year-old father Nourali Komilov, his 24-year-old brother Saivali Komilov and one more passenger, Navrouz Khojayev, 17, died on the spot.

Two other passengers – Rajabali Khojayev, 19, and Muhammadjon Khojayev, 7 – sustained various injuries and were taken to a hospital.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.      

According to data from the Interior Ministry, 151 people died and 516 others were injured in traffic accidents that took place in the country over the first six months of this year.
