Tax Committee names incorrigible tax dodgers

The Tax Committee under the Government of Tajikistan has named incorrigible tax dodgers.

The Tax Committee notes that the most incorrigible is the Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) Sangtudinskaya GES-1, which operates the Sangtuda-1 hydroelectric power plant (HPP).  Its tax debts now amount to 65 million somoni.   

Among the incorrigible tax dodgers are also:

 

  • TALCO Fluorite – 27 million somoni;
  • TALCO Resource – 13 million somoni;
  • Tajik Aluminum Company (TALCO) – 12 million somoni;
  • Barqi Tojik (Tajikistan’s national power utility company – 11.6 million somoni;
  • Tajiktelecom (state-run telecommunications operator) – 9.3 million somoni.

 

According to data from the Tax Committee, total tax debts rose 417 million somoni in six months to June30, 2020, reaching 997 million somoni.   

The tax arrears have reportedly increased in the country due to tax debts of large enterprises.

Tajikistan has reached 92.9 percent of the tax collect target set for the first six months of this year.  As result, the country’s budget over the reporting period has received funds 372 million somoni less than it was originally planned.
