32 new officially confirmed cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) were reported in Tajikistan on Friday, bringing a total number of officially confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country to 8,481 as of the evening of August 28, according to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population (MoHSPP).

The number of coronavirus-linked deaths in the country has been reported at 68 as of the evening of August 298, a MoHSPP said. 

7,276 (83.8 percent) COVID-19 patients have reportedly recovered as of the evening of August 28, 2020.  

Besides, more than 1,000 people in Tajikistan have reportedly been treating COVID-19 at home under supervision of family doctors.

Meanwhile, according to COVID-19 data provided by Worldmeter, coronavirus cases around the globe have been reported at 25,384,579 since China reported its first cases to the World Health Organization (WHO) in December (as of the evening of August 30).  Of them, 17,706,841 have recovered and 850,591 have died.

According to CNN, a CDC forecast projects more than 200,000 coronavirus deaths in the United States by September 19, as the country approaches 6 million confirmed coronavirus cases.

At least 36 states have reported positive cases at colleges and universities in the United States as a new school year starts, with the University of Alabama alone recording 1,200 cases.

India reported 78,761 new cases in 24 hours and has now recorded 3,542,733 cases in total — behind only the US and Brazil, CNN reported on August 31.
