On Friday December 11, President Emomali Rahmon attended an official reopening ceremony of the renovated Kokhi Vahdat State Complex in Dushanbe, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

Reconstruction of the Kokhi Vahdat (Palace of Unity) State Complex, which is the headquarters of the Tajik ruling People's Democratic Party and is also used to host international conferences, began in late May 2017.

The national budget earmarked some 30 million somonis (equivalent to some 4 million U.S. dollars at the exchange rate for 2017) for reconstruction of the Kokhi Vahdat State Complex.

The reconstruction provided for expansion of Kokhi Vahdat’s main hall and the number of seats was increased.  Besides, the building facade was completely renovated.

The Kokhi Vahdat State Complex (formerly Home of Political Education of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Tajikistan) was built in 1974.

On the same day, President Emomali Rahmon handed over keys to new apartments in Dushanbe’s Sino district to 124 officers of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS).

Two apartment buildings have reportedly been built at the expense of the country’s budget.
